Riverview Mine to Close Down Saturday
The Riverview coal mine near Maysville on the EH1 and T. H. railroad will close indefinitely Saturday due to lack of business. Owner William B. Smith arrived in Washington to arrange the closure. The mine employs 50 to 53 men and has suffered from weak coal markets. Work will pause to clear loose coal ahead of shutdown. A morning blaze in Lawrenceville Illinois wiped out the McGaughey building on the public square with losses estimated between fifty thousand and seventy six thousand dollars.
