Railroads of U S Having Their Best Year Since War
Washington reports the Interstate Commerce Commission says American railroads show record revenue, high traffic, and improving facilities. For eight months ended August net operating income rose 4 percent from 1924 and 5.32 percent from 1923, with a possible return on value near 4.3 percent but not guaranteed. The commission favors voluntary consolidations, veto power retained, and notes 7,331 miles of new railroad construction planned or authorized during the year ending October 31.
