A Russian flyer pair attempting a nonstop flight to New York from Moscow crashed on Miscou Island near Shatea Bay after 22 hours 41 minutes in the air. Brig Gen Ke kinaki and Maj Gordienko were aboard the monoplane. one injured, the other fled the wreck.
Martin Birch about 50 suffered cuts and bruises when a slate fall at Standard Mine in Wheatland pinned him briefly during the second shift yesterday afternoon. A water slip caused the load to crash down, catching him in a crouch and entombing him briefly before coworkers freed him. Birch, a father of one, previously survived a back injury in a similar mishap a decade ago. He resides southeast of Washington on a farm.

Miss Vere Herian announced a triple celebration at Daviess County Hospital next Sunday May h. The 25th anniversary of the hospital founding dedication of the new wing and observance of national hospital day will be jointly celebrated. The main building received extensive repairs and painting totaling 26000 dollars funded by the hospital.
