Woman burned when kerosene can exploded near Washington
Mrs. Ralph Kirk suffered severe burns to the front as a five gallon kerosene can exploded while she poured fuel into a stove at the Kirk home two miles southwest of Washington Tuesday night. Firemen said two rooms and the attic were damaged before the blaze was put out. The house is owned by Homer Collins. A separate incident reported this morning involved a fire at Frank Dillon's on West Seventeenth Street where nearby wood ignited from heat near a stove.
