McConnell, a well known colored man and Elks lodge steward, shot John Furman during a quarrel over cards in Jacob's saloon Seymour. The wound is feared fatal. O'Neally, ex-Congressman, improved slightly at his East Eleventh Street home. Rainstorm yesterday morning aided farmers by moistening soil and easing plant conditions.
Coroner Bonham and physicians report Walter Simmons was perforated by five bullets from Frank Mallet’s pistol. The post mortem notes entry point and path detail the wound as left ninth intercostal, with extensive internal bleeding. An inquest is set for Thursday at 2 pm in Plainville with witnesses notified.

It forbids selling bartering trading or giving opium morphine or cocaine without a written prescription from a licensed physician. The physician must date sign and state the recipient's full name. The druggist must record the fill date and purchaser name and stamp cancelled once filled. Violators face a misdemeanor penalty of $10 to $50 and up to six months in jail per offense.
Taylor Allen reported from Colorado that Arnold Allen nephew of U S Allen is improving after losing a leg in a railway accident last week. The Allen family came to Lamar from Washington and had lived there until last fall.
In Bedford on April 24, Henry Dorcett was arrested twice within half an hour for whipping his wife. The first offense carried a $25 fine and twenty days in jail, which was doubled on the second arrest.
Miss Laura Ma Gin Gill married Dr Russell LaFayette Swindler in Washington at noon today. The ceremony occurred at the bride's mother's home on East Main Street with Rev J M Douglass officiating. After the wedding the couple left on the B and O Southwestern train for Todianapolis then to Marion to visit relatives and will reside in Logansport where the doctor has practiced.
The Thaw-White tragedy inspired film The Unwritten Law is shown at the Théatorium for two evenings. City officials and newspaper representatives viewed a private trailer this morning, finding the scenes less wicked than newspaper reports but still suggestive, with concerns about moral influence on youth.
