Three vagrants Mitchie and Luke Duty pleaded loitering at the B and O railroad yard and were fined fifty dollars with costs. The sheriff transported them to the penal farm. Joseph Harvey 16 of Lawrence Hl charged with train riding received a suspended sentence and was sent home.
Washington reports Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins said gaps between soft coal operators and miners are small enough for near immediate settlement. President would consider invoking a mediation board to resolve the lengthy wage and hour contract deadlock that has idleled miners and risked a coal shortage affecting cities and industries.
