A subscriber since 1880, 88 year old Mr Brothers renews the Democrat for the 66th time. He recalls his first subscription when the paper was weekly and preserves a fruit jar made in 1868, the year of his birth.
Robert Gilley died in New Albany as details emerged on his passing. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock for his wife and four children and other family members.
Masonic funeral services for Harry Denham were held Thursday at two o'clock at the United Brethren church. Rev. E. O. and Rev. R. C. Hale officiated with interment in Oak Grove cemetery. Pallbearers included Arthur Wallace Wilbur Arms James Arthur Milton Arthur Harry Morris and Herman Arma Dana Lee Peachee and Doris.
Mr and Mrs Ira Leffler of 1 Strut St report the death of Mrs S H Schuster at her home in Ohio. A longtime resident of this city she was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars. Funeral set for 2 pm Saturday in Painesville Ohio.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced 15 sectional outdoor track meets to be held May 17 and 18. Sectional centers’ principals will run the meets, some Friday, some Saturday, with Bloomington assigned counties including Lawrence, Monroe, Morgan, Brown, Bartholomew, Owen, Greene, Daviess, Martin and Orange.
