Funeral services are planned for John Keller at St Mary’s Church tomorrow morning at o'clock. The rites will follow at St John’s Apotheery. Visitation is scheduled at Keller’s Mortuary on Saturday and Sunday.
County offices will be closed April 19 in observance of Good Friday.
Doctors Smoot and Shields released autopsy findings on Mrs. Morgan after a house fire, noting the charred body and uncertainty whether she died before or during the blaze. The report mentions possible airway damage and whether a blow caused the death. Timothy OWeil, state deputy, reported no further progress.
A youth stole a converted trainer aircraft from a city airfield and fled in a loud burst of engine. Police pursued in a squad car as the plane swept low over the station before the suspect escaped with an accomplice in custody at Setters City. Owners could not be proven, authorities said.

In Indianapolis on April 18 an official letter to senators Raymond Willis Homer and representative Robert A Grant states clemency will be refused. Ralph F Gates also sought clemency. The attorney general refused to testify for a federal pardon for Daroka Steiner of Plymouth Jonas A Miller of Wakarusa.
Disabled American Veterans Washington Chapter No 46 will meet at the Daviess County Courthouse Washington at 730 p.m. on April 24 to elect and install officers. State Service Officer Charles B Lines and State Adjutant Howard W Watts will conduct the meeting and discuss veterans benefits and filing claims. The DAV backs tax and poll tax exemption laws and urges all veterans of all wars and dependents to attend.
A Wednesday gathering urged voluntary bread and food savings to aid starving millions in war ravaged countries. The meeting emphasized public cooperation and stated county sessions may be organized soon to stress famine relief and ship food abroad. Residents from Daviess County participated.
Washington reports the state department intensifies support for UN delegate Edward R. Stettinius Jr. on the Iranian issue as Tehran enacts Madrid convention censorship. President Truman nominates George W. Allen as ambassador to Tehran and rushes his departure.
Christopher Myers aged 58 died at his Raglesville area farm house in Van Buren township at 2 80 this morning after a three year illness. He was born January 28 1888 in Van Buren township, son of William H Myers and Angeline Flynn Myers. He belonged to the Eaglesville Methodist church and was a member of Masonic Lodge 303 at Odon and the American Legion in Evansville. He is survived by brothers Allen Myers and sister Mrs Ma bie Keck. Funeral will be held Saturday at two o clock at his residence with burial in Raglesville cemetery. Rev Edward McBride to officiate. Friends may call at the residence one mile east of Raglesville.
Walter Reuther led the CIO United Automobile Workers in Chicago as the 21 member board pledged to pursue another pay raise after an 18 percent initial increase agreed with Ford following a lengthy strike. He warned price controls must stay to curb inflation and warned of wage freezes ending if controls are lifted.
Indianapolis April 18 More than 18 million dollars in unemployment insurance was paid to Indiana workers in the first quarter of 1946. Of the total 19,965,991 dollars, 9,642,991 went to World War II veterans in readjustment allowances. Federal funds are VA allocated though claims and checks are handled by the state. Despite the drain, the Indiana trust fund remains robust with a January 1 1946 balance of 181,037,897.55 supported by payroll taxes from 13,000 firms.
A prominent Elnora farmer-bus inessman buys James Irwin’s 80 acre farm south of Highway 57 and west of the Elmora cheese factory to donate to Elmore township Fair Association this fall. The crop will be tomatoes with proceeds to the association. 20 acres go to the canning factory. Six Elmora tractors and one from the factory plow fields in preparation. Farmers donating service include George W. Arney Caloore Lorian Cox Carlos Amerville Charles A. Dove Hollis Ketchem.
Indianapolis 24 year old Howard Pollard denied involvement in the torch dismemberment murder of Leland Paul Miller as detectives questioned him at Boone county jail. Pollard, arrested in Kentucky on a first degree murder warrant, acknowledged he and Miller were together the night before the body was found after the Montgomery county fire. Authorities said Miller was killed in one of four counties, with the exact location not yet disclosed.
Easter plans at Maywood Methodist Church were disrupted when vandals damaged 21 stained glass windows, with replacements described as almost unobtainable. Amid Good Friday observances, Indiana offices and banks closed, while some federal offices stayed open.
Washington April 18 The house passed a heavily amended OPA extension bill stripping most price controls. Vote 355 to 42 for nine month extension. administration labels it inflationary danger. Bowles warned of higher rents and prices, predicting unemployment and bankruptcies if the bill stands.
Chicago April 18 Rudolph Volmar 68 a retired engineer shot and killed himself while a nephew Hans Mayer a niece and two policemen with him pleaded to avoid the act. Detectives arrived and urged him but he fired a fatal shot through the head leaving a note about $4500 in government funds.
Norman E Worrell 24 of Odon wed Marylow McGuire 22 of R 1 Montgomery. Junior Donald Davis 20 of Veale wed Bernice Bateman 20 of Veale. Andrew P Baumert 35 of 507 Front Street wed Katherine L Reitzel 22 of R 1 Stilesville Ind.
Fire crews responded Wednesday afternoon to 1903 West Walnut Street where a shed at the rear of Alonzo Campbell’s residence caught fire. No injuries reported as firefighters secured the scene and investigated the cause.
City offices in City Hall will close at noon Friday for the remainder of the day. The notice lists delays and urges residents to plan accordingly for services.
Dorothy Ball, a 20 year old heiress and Mount Holyoke student, disappeared for two days before reappearing at a Salvation Army shelter in New York. Her father, E Arthur Ball of Ball Brothers, said she left school to seek work, likely in art related fields, due to the demanding schedule and her deaf lip reading.
Plans for an Ernie Pyle Memorial Park were announced on the first anniversary of his death. A wooded tract will be donated for the site on U.S. Highway 36 near Dana. Indiana limestone statue replica from Ie Shima will be placed in the park with construction starting after a highway memorial conference. Dedication is expected this summer.
