A well dressed brunette robbed the Colorado state bank in Denver, obtaining $5,000 in a lone hold up. She passed a note to Teller C. E. Kenney threatening to detonate nitro glycerine if not given larger bills, while customers remained unaware of the crime.
James Gilley, superintendent, states the enumeration must be completed and a report filed with the county auditor and state by May 1. The enumeration forms the basis for distributing school funds, with about six dollars per child, so every registered child increases funding for the city and county.
Rebels push farther into the Naco area aided by three inch field guns and gas supplies as federal lines strengthen with machine gun nests and barbed wire entanglements. General Fausto Topete leads attacks in coordination with Escobar while federal commander Lucas Gonzales orders gas masks and security along the border.

Robert E. Lynch, machinist at the B. and C. shops, injured the third finger of his right hand when caught in a locomotive drive spring this morning. The bone at the fingertip was broken. He received treatment at Dr. Walden’s office and then returned to work. He resides at 806 McCormick Avenue.
Goshen Ind April 12 The trial of Walter Huffman former state representative charged with issuing fraudulent checks likely will continue into next week Most of today focused on heating evidence from officials and employees of the Farmers and Merchants Bank of form which was alleged to have lost 49000 because of Huffman s check manipulations.
Flood waters from the White River are rising at about half an inch per hour, endangering traffic on State Highway 50. By Thursday night the river had risen nine inches at Maysville, submerging parts of the road under eight inches of water. Forecasts suggest continued rise today into Saturday, possibly forcing full closure, while nearby Plainville Edwardsport and Newberry areas report notable increases. The eel and Wabash rivers remain below flood stage, allowing some traffic between Washington and Vincennes.
The trial of Earl Russell, charged with murdering his wife with a butcher knife, went on at Greenfield. The proceedings extended into next week, with jurors and witnesses called to the stand as the case unfolds.

Vincennes Indiana April 12 Ivan M Drain who has served fifteen years as ticket agent at the Union depot in Vincennes has accepted a position as traveling passenger agent for the Baltimore and Ohio railroad in Texas. He will leave Saturday for Dallas to establish his headquarters and will be joined by Mrs Drain in about two weeks. Drain will be succeeded by P M Cross, night agent at Vincennes.
Four men died and two were injured when a cofferdam at the new South Logan street bridge collapsed without warning in Lansing on April 12. Seven others escaped from the upper structure as workers trapped in timber and dirt were crushed or drowned.
In Hammond Indiana on April 12 two bandits robbed the Lan sing State Bank of nineteen thousand dollars. Guard Charles Miller in a ceiling gun booth did not shoot, fearing to wound cashier William Winterhoff. The bandits forced Winterhoff to accompany them to a car by the Illinois state line and then dumped him from the automobile.
In Detroit Michigan on April 12 two men were shot to death in what police call a new development in a racketeer war that has claimed five lives in a week. A witness near the scene heard three shots and saw two men fall on a sidewalk as a third shooter fired twice more before escaping in a car.
Indianapolis April 12 The first move in governor Harry Leslie plans to oust James G Jackson superintendent of the school for the feeble minded at Fort Wayne was seen in Leslie appointment of John W Kitch Plymouth Ind attorney as a Democratic member of the school’s board of trustees.
Hammond and a alleged land scammer were settled as the city awarded the title to the Lever Brothers Soap Corporation of Cambridge Massachusetts. Construction will begin immediately on a five million dollar soap plant near the park area.

An April 12 blast at Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis caused about 16000 dollars in damage. The explosion, likely from leaking gas fumes reaching the boiler, occurred before classes began. Joseph Floerke, son of Mr and Mrs Ben Floerke of this city, was taken to Henry Ford hospital in Detroit last Wednesday and underwent two major operations on Friday, one to remove an abscessed appendix and another to treat a large abscess on the right hip. His condition shows little improvement.
Bloomfield Indiana April 12 state and defense rested their cases in the murder trial of James W Jenkins of Bedford charged with killing Zacariah Burton of Mitchell during an attempted robbery. The case was expected to reach the jury late today after the attorneys rested this forenoon.
Washington April 12 chairman McNary of the Senate Agriculture Committee said he would ask drafting experts to prepare an amendment to the farm board bill. The amendment would allow the board to use the debenture plan if a majority sees it as advisable. He plans to air the amendment for action tomorrow or Monday.
