Indiana flood alert reports the west fork of White river rising rapidly, threatening State Road 50 and the Plainville Edwardsport highway. Maysville station records a 21 inch rise after nearly five feet of increases, with possible inundation before Friday. Roads may halt within days as heavier rains swell streams statewide.
In Chicago on April 11 sixteen members of the Chicago association of candy jobbers were found guilty of violating the Sherman act in a federal court verdict after a Chicago candy racket. Nineteen other defendants were acquitted. Those convicted face prison terms up to a year and fines up to $5,000. The government alleged the group used intimidation and window smashing to pressure stores resisting cooperation.
Petersburg Ind April 11 A large spreading viper hid in Hyslop's smoke house and kept him from the door until Mrs Hyslop arrived with a hoe to kill the reptile Which measured more than four feet long Later another reptile about four and a half feet was killed in Hyslop's garden.
American troops were sent from Fort Bliss and Fort Russell to the Mexican border as a precaution to protect lives and property amid renewed fighting in the federal stronghold. The Naco garrison faced a likely rebel attack and urged evacuation while fearing gas use. General Escobar ordered road loans and looting at Anguanova as rebels press cash demands. Armored cars were reportedly deployed, a first in U.S. history outside maneuvers.
Newport Arkansas April 11 report shows a tornado crossing northeastern counties killing 54 known dead and injuring many. Red Cross and Army relief rushed to Gwifton Batesville Swifton areas as telegraph lines failed and precincts lost contact.
Carmel Indiana April 11 two masked men armed with sawed off shotguns robbed the Carmel State Bank of 5700 after forcing bank employees and four customers into a vault not locked. Assistant cashier Chester Bailey was forced to the city limits where he was pushed from a car. An accomplice waited in the vehicle while the other two got the money as Carmel authorities alerted surrounding towns and guarded highways.
The senate agriculture committee decided to call upon President Hoover to ascertain what he wants or will permit in the new farm bill. The move followed a dispute during committee consideration of the bill in Washington on April 11.
A Monroe woman named Hy Elmore was assisted by police this morning and transported to a hospital awaiting her afternoon arrival. She was refused permission to leave the city with her husband.

The trial of John Tompson, a farmer living east of here, will be heard by a special judge rather than Mayor John W. McCarty after a change of venue from the city court. A special judge will be selected this afternoon and will preside next Tuesday morning.
