Diver labored diligently in a salvage operation seeking remains and the engine. Despite persistent efforts and careful searching, authorities report the engine has been located but no bodies have been recovered.
A Washington area woman explains her dilemma with discarded tin cans she burns, arguing the practice harms nothing and that the cans are not her product but will soon be reusable or salvageable.

Eldridge Willeford son of Dr G W Willeford of East First and Herron streets and Miss Nelle Toleon daughter of Walter Talsan of South East Eleventh street eloped to Lawrenceville Indiana last Friday and married there Saturday. The parents refused to grant licenses so they followed the old route via Elnora and will return tonight. Both are well known with him working as a clerk in the B and O Southwestern shops and she at Cabel Kaufman store. They plan to reside here.
Work crews repair the line between Shoals and Mitchell with a work train running east to Shoals. Officials expect full repair by Wednesday and plan the first regular eastbound B. and O. Southwestern service in sixteen days, removing the last regular run dated March 24.
Jesse Goshorn relayed a telegram from sister Ida stating that her husband John Neiswanger died at their Sunnyside home in Washington on Saturday with burial on Sunday. The Neiswangers left Daviess County two years ago for Washington. Survived by widow and three children, two sons and a daughter. brother Joseph Neiswanger of Elmore Township. He was about forty five.

Reports from St Louis and Cairo indicate the Mississippi River is falling at most points with little damage from the big flood. Cairo Mayor George Parsons says the crest may have passed after 54.7 feet held for 36 hours, levees with two feet freeboard could withstand two more feet. A tenement fire trapped Davis and his family on the third floor. Davis improvised a rope from sheets to lower his wife, who fell twenty feet and sustained a broken arm and internal injuries. He then tried to lower their six month old baby but the sheet broke short. A rescuer shouted to swing the child, and the baby was saved by a bystander at the window. Davis was later rescued by a fireman with a long ladder.

Charles Hughey, born Dutchess County January 3 1878, died February 16 1907 after a heart attack on Van Trees Street. Coroner H. Hold reports heart trouble caused death. Survived by widow, two brothers Luther and Melvin both of the city, sister Mrs Eva Tog Bridgeport WI, and sister Mrs Martin Tainchford. Funeral Thursday at 4:30 AM with interment in nearby cemetery.
