Under the direction of William Rodgers, a county all schools musical program will be held Friday evening at the Community gymnasium. Participants include county schools, choirs, glee clubs and the county band. The program aims to showcase the important work of music education for the public and invites attendance.
The county board of Children's Guardians in Daviess County was formed by Judge M S Hastings to supervise child welfare. Stephen E Myers presided with Mrs R L Jary Mrs E Littell and others as members to investigate and place children in suitable homes and oversee their welfare after placement.
The State Bank of Washington began restrictions after an order yesterday raised all institutions to class A. After the banking holiday, the State bank was classified as class B and operated under class B restrictions due to realty holdings. Washington National Bank, Peoples National, and Citizen Loan & Trust have moved to class A since the holiday ended.
United Press reports the Akron giant dirigible of the navy air force crashed at sea twenty miles from Barnegat New Jersey after a night of storms. Only four of the 76 aboard were saved. Rear Admiral W. A. Moffett and other officials' fates remained undetermined as ships and aircraft converged on the wreck site to rescue survivors. Barnegat police and doctors aided arriving survivors.
Indianapolis April 4 with all 10 importer licenses issued arrangements were made with brewers to deliver Indiana its first beer supply by Friday April 7. Paul Fry state excise director reported $90,000 in receipts and $1590,000 in approved but unpaid checks. Importers contracted with Chicago Milwaukee and Cincinnati brewers while Evansville and Calumet firms gained major district permits. More than 50,000 cases expected and about 100 trucks to deliver Indianapolis first shipment Friday.
