A barn belonging to Joe Shouse and Chris Melker in South Washington burned at 6 o clock in the morning. An old mule valued at 25 dollars perished in the flames, with the hero worth 100 dollars and about 25 dollars of hay feed and harness destroyed. The origin is unknown though suspected incendiary, possibly accidental fire from a match or cigar. The fire damaged fodder and spread to the barn. suspicion exists but is unproven.
