Local coon hunters announce a pie supper at the skeet field Monday night for members and invited guests. An amateur coon dog field trial follows tomorrow with local and out of town dogs. Admission is free and the public is invited. Cash purses will be awarded to winners.
Indiana WPA officials announced planned April dismissals of about 4000 relief workers with similar numbers likely in May and June due to Congress denying a $150 million emergency appropriation. Dismissals target underperforming projects across 34 WPA sites, reshaping Indiana relief efforts and potentially reducing total WPA employment from March figures of about 85,000 statewide.
In Chicago on April 1, Jozeph Sarville a 45 year old gangster and narcotics peddler was found dead in a parked car with a woman seriously wounded in the rear seat identified as Miss Alice Jensen about 26. The car stood on 64th street near St Bernard's hospital while police say the victim was shot elsewhere and the car moved to the hospital area.
Indianapolis April 1 The United States Supreme Court ruling on reciprocal taxation of federal and state salaries affects federal employees. The Tax Division notes immunity questions for federal workers, with the department stating no immediate plan to collect gross income tax on federal salaries in any quarter. Municipal and state employees are to be treated on the same basis as federal workers.
The Brevort Levee project in Knox County was awarded Friday in Louisville to E. C. Morgan Company of Jackson Tennessee for 244,947. Completion is set for 540 calendar days with work starting soon. The levee runs from the George Rogers Clark Memorial at Vincennes along the Wabash River and White River intersection, requiring about 2,200,000 cubic yards of excavation and 15 flood gates. Other bidders included Hartman & Coville, Sternberg, H N Jenks, and Walker of Omaha.
A soil erosion field tour will depart from a CCC camp at 1 15 PM with a nursery visit and demonstrations. Local farms in Daviess Knox and Martin counties cooperate to showcase conservation work begun since 1933. Dr. H H Bennett warns erosion caused vast losses totaling 20 billion dollars, urging action.

Survived by husband and twin daughters Camille and Rose Ellen with arrangements incomplete. She was active in the American nape Auxiliary and led with the Bayree choir.
