Freeholders debate Allamuchy road bids in 128 day plan

Bids for the Allamuchy to Hackettstown road, 28 750 feet long and 12 feet wide, were opened by the Board of Freeholders. Salmon Brothers led with 21024. H, James C. Stanley second at 23756.97, Wright & Linda Tay 25004.77, DM. J. Blnk of Rockaway offered 98400.50 for trap rock. Project includes 11000 cubic yards earth and stone removal and 35393 square yards macadam with 120 working days to complete.

Power House Damage During Lightning Strike

A severe lightning strike damaged the power house at Plane No. 7 on the Morris canal west of Awa. Tender James Dilley was nearly struck but escaped serious injury.
