Locomotive Boiler Explodes Killing Engineer Trimmer

Mystery surrounds death of John Anthony in county jail

John Anthony, a county inmate about 38, reportedly killed himself after being assured no charges would be filed before a grand jury and that liberty would come soon. He fought with fellow prisoner James Marshall, then used a razor and a large pocket knife during the escape attempt, suffering a jugular wound before dying two hours later despite doctors' efforts. Anthony, son of Wesley Anthony of Hunterdon County, had prior incidents with Eva Sutton and faced jail for vagrancy and attempted shooting. Town licenses granted after remonstrances delay
