Woman Killed in Auto Accident and Canal plunge

A woman died when her vehicle left the roadway and plunged into a canal, investigators said. The crash occurred near the roadway shoulders as emergency responders worked to recover the body and determine fault.

Four Narrow Escapes in Early Sunday Crash

A Easton car carrying two women and two men plunged into the Dyrlun Water canal after leaving Easton heading toward Bethlehem. Miss Margaret Monahan drowned. Dr. Mel Hoey owner of the car and a local physician. occupants Fred Onterstock and Arthur Klothman survived. The party had been at the Bishop apartment and North Third Street before a late night drive. Miss Monahan’s body was taken to Tipmonahan’s home in Palmerstown for funeral services. A separate Matamoras incident involved a Philadelphia woman injured when a driver swerved to avoid a truck. The day’s totals included substantial vehicle damage and a price tag near $1900 for the wreck.
