Vast Clock Factory Fire Leaves Ashes and Losses
A large two story clock works and a neighboring creamery and wash laundry burned Monday night in a blaze that swept through the Lundy and Schilling buildings. About 40,000 dollars in property and goods were destroyed with many workers left unemployed. Firefighters fought the blaze as nearby structures risked ignition, and only partial control saved surrounding buildings. The Lundy factory housed craftsman clocks and mahogany cases valued at tens of thousands, while insurance covered part of the损. The cause traced to wood dust in the engine room.
