Bernd J Ford ex superintendent of the State House faced seven indictments for conspiracy false pretenses and official misconduct in Murcer Court Monday morning. His chief ally Ex Senator Michael Brovett spoke for him as prosecutors argued for leniency while Ford retraction of pleas was noted. Conspiracy charges tied to John Atulling were not pursued after his prior trial and acquittal.
On Friday night at about 12 alodk William McWilliams, motorman on an old-fashioned railroad in Eneraon, crossed the street bridge and fell into the river after a boat mishap. His companion John Coffee and another man were thrown into the river as well. Coffee survived, but McWilliams drowned and the body has not been recovered. He leaves a widow and siblings.
