Drunken Drivers Endanger Horse Then Face Prosecution

Washington Avenue residents have long warned of James Cling’s reckless driving. On Tuesday evening a horse owned by Cling was beaten and shoved through town by driver Janie Nixon, causing injury and public alarm. The horse collapsed after a final dash. both men were arrested, Nixon released, and Cling fined three dollars plus costs for cruelty to animals. A civil case is set for April 2. Also noted: rail line ticket scalping ends along the Lackawanna route after district officials’ warning.
