Americans Advance Seven Miles Across Verdun Front

Allied forces led by American troops in cooperation with French on the left continued a wide 20 mile front attack northwest of Verdun, penetrating enemy lines about seven miles and taking Varennes Montblainville Vauquois and Cheppy after stiff resistance. Explosion on harbor dump injures laborer near Japanese steamer

An explosion in Atlantic harbor caused by dumping ashes and garbage from a Japanese steamer injured a laborer and sparked major concern along the waterfront. RAZES WALL IN BETHLEHEM SPECIAL CAPE FROM LONDON TIMES
