Memorial Tribute to Dead Soldiers at Washington Cathedral

In Washington hundreds of veterans gathered at the National encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic for an open air memorial service at the Washington Cathedral. Bishop Alfred Harding led benediction as Rev T F Davies delivered the memorial address, contrasting wartime sacrifice with today’s struggles and urging militant, righteous peace. Clergy from across the diocese, members of the Women’s Relief Corps, and GAR auxiliaries participated in the event marked by military band, processions, prayers, hymns, and a peace cross ceremony on the cathedral grounds.
