Garfield colored citizens seek removal of two policemen
A Garfield D C committee urged commissioners to oust J M Dent and D J Garvey from the force citing a trial testimony claim they slept in a stable while guarding alleged negro chicken thieves. The petition, signed by J W Caldwell and others, labels the policemen’s conduct a foolish, scandalous, malicious deception harming the community. Ground Broken for Northminater Church at Eleventh and Rhode Island
Ground breaking ceremony held Tuesday for the Northminater Presbyterian Church new building at Eleventh Street and Rhode Island Avenue. Former owners were Harry Wardman and Clarence Norment l, who built the four story colonial building with thirty two apartments about a year ago after deals by AH Beers. Col Johnson is a wealthy timber owner from South Carolina. He recently purchased the Nelson apartment house on Twentieth street between R and 9 streets.
