Nation's Bankers to be Asked Here for 1920 Convention
The Bankers Association of the District plans to invite the American Bankers Association to hold its 1920 convention in Washington following a report from Col. Robert N. Harper's committee. Maurice D. Rosenberg will remain president until June 1920, with officers to be elected in June, not October. The meeting also proposed annual June conventions for officers and to adopt a new bad-check law proposed by Judas L Peyser.

Commentary ranges from calls for treaty revision to accusations of government incapacity. Rifts appear over Russia guilt and the July 1914 crisis.

War Time Day Bill Near Law
Complete agreement on the prohibition enforcement bill is expected as House and Senate conferees meet today. The remaining dispute concerns who bears the burden of proof for evidence of illegal commerce in intert wines and beverages. Conferees retain the one half of one percent maximum content rule and home storage provisions for prewar purchases. The Senate home manufacture provision for cider and light wines would remain, along with other liberalising elements. Prohibition advocates expect enactment late this week.
