Drum declines nomination amid party feuding in Cumberland
Francis J. Drum, newly nominated by the Democratic county committee for state senator, will decline the nomination. He cites lack of sincerity from the local organization and will keep his current post with the United Mine Workers. Friends say the move sweetens a rift with the Willison faction and aids Senator Lewis’s camp. Drum’s resignation advances the campaign dynamics in Maryland politics.
