Crowds at Loeffler funeral fill Washington streets
A vast throng gathered for the last rites of William Loeffler, notable Washington merchant. The procession stretched over a mile past his home, with DeMolay and Knights Templar escorts, a sixteenth chorus, and a Masonic service under an oak. Floral tributes poured in from firms across cities, and many firms closed to allow employees to attend.
