Washington Public Schools Open Amid Large Attendance
Washington public schools began a new term with the largest attendance in history and a projected maximum enrollment exceeding last year by about 1,000. Superintendent A. T. Stuart and Board President W. W. Cox praised smooth operations despite rain and minor overcrowding. New appointments were announced for several kindergartens and elementary schools as schedules mirrored last year’s structure with school hours from 9 to 3, high schools 9 to 2, and two drills monthly.

Three Million Dollars at National Theater Show
Review of a musical comedy at the National featuring Edger Allan Wolf’s book with lavish chorus girls and assorted farcical situations. The nephew’s plan to lure an heiress with a $3,000,000 fortune drives a plot of flirtation, hilarity, and coarse dialogue amid strong turns by Louis A. Simon and Ada Meade, while the cast and chorus deliver color and energy despite unsavory lines. The program also covers Casino vaudeville, Belasco’s The Lottery Man, Lyceum’s Cozy Corner Girls, Columbia’s Deacon and the Lady, and other acts with varied reception.
