Six year old Medo Tomaso was found near his home after two months abductors released him and a prisoner. Detectives say four ransom payments were made and track the kidnapers through a route over a bridge near the Tomaso family property. Nicole Tomaso, a companion in captivity, describes the ordeal with Italian captors and a plan to use a bridge route to reach the boy’s home.

Mrs Frank Joy of St Louis member of Congressman Longworths party wandered about ten miles in the woods near the Grand Canyon September 1 and became confused. A searching party found her about 9 PM in Long Jim canyon fatigued and frightened. A dinner for Bore Longworth was canceled as the search continued.

Montgomery Ala Sept 1 The War Department refuses to allow the Confederate rank of the late Gen Joseph Wheeler to be inscribed on his Arlington Cemetery monument causing anger. Wheeler’s daughters opposed the move but consented to Arlington interment, and Alabama officials may seek a reversal by Congress.
William F Havens an eighteen year old office boy stole 73 dollars from Independent Packing Company, fled to Dakota, planned to marry his sweetheart Miss Luan Ahren, and spent the money on a cottage and travels. A court bid Havens release while the company sought repayment and a future job offer. The company blamed temptation and arranged to recover nearly the full amount.
Milwaukee dispatch reports Bishop Joseph Berry of Buffalo denying a published interview claiming he blamed President Roosevelt for alleged drinking at the Vice President’s Indianapolis home. The bishop says he never made such statements and regrets the suggestion.
Indications from Cleveland Democratic precincts show Mayor Tom L. Johnson renominated for mayor by acclamation at the upcoming city convention. The mayor’s ticket also appears to secure council seats, with backers including E B Hancrodt, a former Republican, amid close races in several wards and energized opposition linked to County Clerk Charles P Salen.
