Mystery in Art Gems Represent Adam and Eve Found in Auction

Two life size Adam and Eve paintings, one before and one after the fall, about eight by nine feet, were sent to Prof Frederick L Boettscher of the Smithsonian for retouching and authenticity checks. The canvases, old classical works likely by a monk, show Eden serene and the other doomed, with dramatic storm imagery. They were previously sold at Dowling’s auction rooms to John Baier, who framed and hung them in his hotel before ownership passed.
