Lewis Johnson Davis longtime Washington banker and civic leader died at his home on Massachusetts Avenue at age seventy two from throat cancer after a year of illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at Epiphany Church conducted by Rev Dr Randolph H McKim, with interment at Rock Creek Cemetery. Davis was born in 1854 in Washington, led the family bank firm Lewis Johnson & Co, and served as president of the Washington Stock Exchange and a trustee of the Columbia Institute for the Deaf and Dumb. He was active in numerous clubs and charities, including Garfield Hospital and the Childrens Hospital, and was senior warden at Epiphany Church for nearly forty years. He leaves no surviving children.
