Vevey Fete des Vignerons Draws Global Tourists

From the Pall Mall Gazette a vivid chronicling of Vevey Switzerland as it readies a week of open air rejoicings for the Fete des Vignerons. Tourists from Europe, America, and Australia converge as the town awakens from its sleepy routine with dramatic mornings and waterborne Venicean pageantry. The piece notes Montreux’s tourism dominance, historic pockets around Lausanne, and the festival’s long, costly history, including ancient harvest rites, high stage costs, and resolutions limiting the event to irregular intervals to curb excess.
