Parcel Post Gains Urged To Help Workers Save More
Representative Dayel Davis of Maryland appealed to the American Federation of Labor to back parcel post use as a remedy for high living costs. He argued parcel post would lower prices by enabling direct farm-to-household delivery, lowering wholesale and retail transport costs, and thus stretching a dollar further for housewives and workers alike. He cited specific savings in poultry and produce to illustrate how a direct farmer-to-consumer chain could reduce expenses.
