District budget trimmed as retrenchment debate continues
Commissioners postpone daily esti mates sessions while secretaries prepare final revision. Each commissioner reviews department estimates with bureau heads to identify cuts with aim to reduce the total from 12,890,000 to about 11,000,000. The plan remains to drop large items for permanent improvements or curb current expenses, following prior practice of seeking Congress aid to cover deficits.
