London Market Review Gains and Lulls in Global Stocks
The London market was dull with little business as currencies steadied. Rubbers strengthened while Germans rose and Japanese fell on sterling gains in New York. Rails and industrials showed mixed signals. gold price drops and dull cape advice affected mining shares. Treasury bill tenders drew focus as Lombard Street money remained easy with rates near three and a quarter to four percent. Exchange rates stood at New York 3.86 percent, Paris 423.50, Berlin 5.44.
