Announcement from Steubenville Ohio says Frederick Cole Fairbanks son of Vice President Charles W. Fairbanks eloped with Miss Neille Stott of Pittsburg and married there. Denies Killing Husband in West Virginia Court Case

Foot Caught Girl Killed In Train Crossing Tragedy

Seven year old Mamie Hunt was killed when her foot became caught in a cattle guard at the Indian Hill crossing in La Crosse Wisconsin. Her six year old companion Dagna Senstad ran to warn the engineer but his train could not stop. The father John Hunt, a brakeman on the train, sat on a brake wheel unaware of the fatal accident as it occurred while the girls were returning from school.

Trapped in Death Tube Rescue Fails in Tunnel Fire

In a Pennsylvania Railroad tunnel near East Avenue shaft in Long Island City fifty feet below ground a blast and smoke trapped three men who died of suffocation while four were badly burned. George Chapman and peers, both of Long Island City, and Michael Daly of Long Island City perished. One rescuer described the scene as black hell as others escaped and tried to aid trapped colleagues. The accident occurred about 4:80 am after a phone booth fire caused an explosion and rapid spread of flames through the shaft, with air pressure around twenty pounds.
