Rise in Easier Money on London Optimism Sparks Wall Street

London optimism spread to New York as stocks opened higher led by British speculation. The day saw firmer gold prices and easing money rates, aided by hopes Bank of England may keep rates steady, plus bullish notes from Great Northern and U S Cast Iron Pipe. Major gains followed in Consolidated Gas, Delaware and Hudson, Canada Pacific, Pullman Palace Car, Manhattan Electric Railway, and Central Railroad of New Jersey. The market weakened briefly as money rates slid, leaving most gains intact amid strong industrial and crop news.
