Creatore Concert Delights A Nation of Fans At National Theater
The eccentric Italian bandmaster Creatore led his well organized ensemble at the National Theater last evening. Critics note his personality draws crowds even as some doubt the artistic balance, with selections from Faust 1812 Overture and Traviata featuring notable solos. Concerns include ear splitting crescendos and tempo fluctuations that sometimes reduce the music to noise, and a perceived decline since last year amid Western exposure.
