Civil Service to Warn Clerks Over Campaign Giving
The Civil Service Commission plans to send a circular to government employees warning against campaign contributions as a legal violation. The warning follows an inquiry by Commissioner Green into Goshen Indiana postmaster staff who said they gave part of their salaries to the Republican State campaign in 1902. They contributed through U S Circuit Judge Baker who resides nearby, and Judge Baker reportedly admitted the act. no formal charge was pressed due to lack of a recent offense.
