Salted Police Budget and Cell Modernization Proposal
A district plan seeks a $706,000 increase for Metropolitan Police next fiscal year with most raised for salaries. Maj Sylvester advocates twelve new personnel and seven-figure equipment upgrades including eight modern prison cells at several stations. He cites gloomy unsanitary cells and outmoded revolvers, calling for fencing upgrades, harbor patrol roles, and additional miscellaneous expenses. The proposal accompanies a request for an assistant engineer, fireman, deckhand, and more, as well as a Grand Jury review for related cases.
