Judge Swayne Testifies In Own Defense At Inquiry
Judge Swayne appeared as a witness in his own defense amid an investigation by the Judiciary Committee. He denied malice in contempt cases, admitted using private cars on some trips, and defended his conduct in Hoskin actions while detailing his career and political context in Florida. Cross-examinations focused on finances, alleged conspiracies, and the 1886 election frauds, with Boone denying schemes and the committee wrapping testimony. A separate report notes a raid on a Ball's Alley speakeasy and injuries at the new filtration plant.
