Hopewell's Rise and Fall Tied to Dupont Plant Fate
Camp Lee Va Nov 27 Hopewell a city of about 40000 on the edge of Camp Lee rose from farmland after the Dupont powder plant expansion. When the armistice halted plant work, thousands were laid off and the town faced a swift collapse as the company offered travel pay and reemployment efforts, reshaping Hopewell's fortunes.
