Greatest Demonstration in Local Labor History Parade
A mass labor demonstration with about 20 000 participants took to Pennsylvania Avenue from the Peace Monument to Fifteenth Street and ended at Convention Hall with a packed crowd. Speakers included William Jennings Bryan and Samuel Gompers, along with international labor leaders and local officials. The event featured elaborate floats, bands, and strong calls for a shorter workday and arbitration over conflicts between labor and capital.
