Rare Yale book collection highlights a lifelong pursuit
Owen F. Aldis of 127 Connecticut Avenue North presented Yale University with a vast cache of American first editions and autographs gathered over more than twenty years. The set, valued at about $60,000 at Yale, spans authors from Cooper to Thoreau and includes rare works like a perfect first edition of Alcuin. Aldis plans to label the library the Aldis Collection of American Literature, a centerpiece for Yale’s holdings and future acquisitions.
