Harding Ride Triggers Shorter Bridle Path Near White House
President Harding borrowed a army mount and rode from the White House toward the mall causing a direct southward path to replace a longer east–west route at Seventeenth and B streets. The change shortens the bridle path from the White House toward the National Mall and prompted planning for a new continuous southbound route.
