Mingo Mine Fight Renewed In Court Over Union Checks
The Mingo county West Virginia coal dispute returned to the United States circuit court of appeals in Chicago as charges and countercharges flew about an injunction suspending the check off used to fund union dues. Operators accuse the union of conspiring to destroy competition and raise prices, while union allies defend the practice as lawful. The hearing reviewed 1898 agreements and ongoing efforts to monopolize coal labor, with no decision yet issued.
