Attempt to wreck Legore bridge in Maryland clash
In Frederick Maryland on November 16 a quarrel over a bridge site on the Monocacy River led to an early morning dynamite attempt. Four charges were placed along the five span stone structure but only three damaged the masonry and one failed to detonate. The bridge, costing over 10 thousand dollars, was built by J W Legore to ease access to his lime plant and store. The dispute centers on distance from Legore’s works and a state law blocking nearby bridges. an appeal in circuit court tests the act while the act spurred the arson-like attack as bitterness grows.
