Fight on Unfair List Federation Defends Action

A District Supreme Court equity hearing heard Buck Stove and Range Company seek a temporary injunction to restrain publication by the American Federation of Labor of an unfair list in the Federationist. The suit contends the list is a prohibited boycott and violates free press. Federation lawyers argued no unlawful restraint exists and the case involves only nominal Sherman anti trust questions with the broader issue of freedom of publication.

Water Bill Reform Aims At Annual Minimum Payment

Water Registrar Wallace and the Commissioners approved a plan to abolish quarterly water meter bills for private homes. All residents would pay an annual minimum rate of 450 dollars in advance on July 1, plus 3 cents per 100 cubic feet for usage over 15,000 cubic feet in the fiscal year. The change should simplify billing, with only about 15 percent of consumers receiving additional charges. The shift is expected to cut four bills per customer to one and save costs overall.
