Elkins law intimidation case hits Milwaukee lines
United States District Attorney Butterfield and Assistant Charles Quadles filed a circuit court complaint charging Milwaukee Refrigerator Transit Company and several railroads with violating the Elkins act by rebates and discriminations. The suit claims the Milwaukee firm, created to move freight, earned large rebates via contracts with Pabst Brewing and others, using threats to divert traffic. Col Gustav Pabst denies any improper connection beyond a car contract, noting his interest is no longer with the Milwaukee Refrigerator Transit Company.
