New York November 10 Andrew Carnegie announced a 26 million donation to the Carnegie Corporation of New York organized today to promote knowledge and education across the United States. The bonds issued at par and sold at a premium will fund libraries and educational institutions, with annual income of about 1.2 million to sustain past work. Officers include President Andrew Carnegie and Vice President Henry Root, as the charter and constitution were adopted and the corporation formed.
Long Island Freeport reports inquest into Arthur Barnes superintendent of public schools. A former janitor and several high school teachers testified of frequent visits to teachers rooms and alleged embraces with teachers. Carrie Ostrander recalled the superintendent’s arms around a colleague while others denied seeing a kiss.

Special to the Waabingtas Feet from Duthrie reports Samuel Hellar attempted a 3000 foot parachute stunt yesterday. At the apex he cut loose his cord. The woodén bar snapped and he clung on until less than 50 feet remained. He freed himself and fell, dying a few hours later.
Two Annapolis midshipmen from the second class left a supper with Baltimore chorus girls, jumped a wall, and swam the Severn River in dripping clothes to avoid pursuit, then reached a seawall and escaped detention. A crowd watched as they, in overcoats, trudged toward a train and the academy. The episode ended with the men evading capture and heading back to campus.
In Los Angeles on November 12 a jury of women failed to reach a verdict on J. H. Mager charged with speeding a motorcycle after three hours of deliberation. Foreman Nora E. McDonald declared no prospect of guilt or innocence. The jury was discharged and a male panel set for the next trial. It emerged foreman Ner nel hung the verdict as the jurors resumed activity after the split decision.
White Plains, N.Y. November recall of a Westchester burglary where five suspects, all armed with .38 revolvers, were arrested within nine hours of the murder at the Griffen farmhouse in Croton Lake. Four are charged, three confessing to being at the scene. two claim innocence. The plan targeted a life insurance policy of about $3,000. Names include Vincenze Carne, Felipe de Marto, Tony Turiddo, Giuseppe Penno, and Ghu neppe Bardinecet. authorities expect grand jury indictments for murder.
Five army aviators led by Capt. Paul W. Beck flew from College Park to Fort Myer in a noted exhibition over Washington. Lieut. Thomas DeWitte Milling and Lieut. Hoy C. Kirtland piloted the newer craft while Lieut. Henry H. Arnold operated the older plane with Lieut. Frank J. Kennedy as passenger. The display drew thousands as the trio crossed the city to the cavalry and artillery drills, ending with a return to College Park in about 20 minutes.

Four year old Willem Morlat, from Connoraville, with no medical aid, leapt from the rear of a passing auto owned by RM King and was run over. He cheerfully reported he had proved a belief that a child could avoid injury by lying lengthwise under a moving car. The car’s occupants and an investigation found he was not hurt.
W Roy M Frain of San Francisco used an aeroplane to herd 68 cows at Cavalry Field Presidie landing area. He circled the flat, driving the frightened cattle toward a marked boundary. The herd moved in a wary, startled manner as the aircraft hovered and then departed.
Lieut Towers and J H Towers from the aviation station across the Severn River landed at Murray Hill after piloting the hydro aeroplane Triad. They visited several friends, then returned the machine to the hangar following a half hour stop.
Henry Hinckman of Vernon Indiana once claimed to be hairless for a decade and now expects a heavy crop of hair after a bout with photo fever that caused him to lose his hair. He recently walked into a barber shop demanding a shave to test the return of facial and body hair. Hinckman has served as sheriff of his county and is a noted local politician.
Washington police chief William J. Dulaney shot himself during a visit to Miss Lennox at her home near McGeorge Avenue early this morning. Mrs Rose Lennox and her daughter say he spoke of harming them then fired a Caliver revolver through his head, with no powder burns on the body. The coroner’s inquest is set for Tuesday as Miss Lennox and her mother are held for questioning.

Coroner weighs indictment for Mrs Vermilya on criminal knowledge of deaths. Arsenic detected in ongoing probe touches several other deaths tied to the same residence.
Chicago November 10 Mrs Jane Quinn was held on two charges of murder in connection with the death of her husband John Quinn. A coroner's jury found a bullet wound in his body after he was found dead in bed November 2. Quinn claimed burglars tied him, a claim the jury rejected as no emotion showed by Mrs Quinn during the proceedings. Witness Jones Miller testified he awoke to a revolver shot and told police burglars killed her husband. Mrs Quinn refused to testify. Police continue investigation into the deaths of two former husbands, James McDonald and Warren Thorpe, with McDonald reported dead from gunshot in Ontario in 1884 and Thorpe shot in Michigan in 1974. The women were detained but released for insufficient evidence.
