Proposed Tariff Filed With Utilities Commission Heating Also
The Potomac Electric Power Company sent a notice to the public utilities commission proposing a tariff that cuts cooking and heating electricity rates. The plan would require at least $1 per month per meter, with two meters for cooking and heating. The new rate would be 8 cents per kWh after the first 10 kWh, replacing the current 10 cents for the first 120 kWh and 6 cents for subsequent usage. The company argues the change spurs electric gas competition and reduces complaints about high electricity costs, though it adds a minimum metering charge.
